So a Breeze Can Blow Through

an 11th step reflection

It’s like sweeping the porch, or

gently opening the front door with

the screen left intact

so a breeze can blow through.

A smile.

A warm and welcoming pie

on the windowsill, or

a lovely, hand written invitation.

Wooing, or

a wish.

Sometimes, it’s plowing,

a spontaneous encounter with obstruction

requiring removal of rock and debris

or broken-up concrete.

It may feel akin to pulling weeds,

but not forever

Prayer is an ellipsis

An ever-so-slight transition.

Segway.

Selah.

Stillness enters

through the screen door, riding on

the subtlety of measured breath,

the calmest of vibrations.

Still water.

Meditation is an invitation

to recline on me

while I recline on you.

Take my yoke

Take your rest
